Traders in Delhi will stage a mass protest against sealing tomorrow by closing their business establishments while observing a Delhi Trade Bandh being called by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) . More than 7 lakh commercial establishments belonging to about 2000 Trade Associations across Delhi shall be participating in Delhi Trade Bandh. Whether wholesale or retail market, there shall be no commercial activity across Delhi. The traders of Delhi are in an upbeat mood for tomorrow’s  Trade Bandh.

CAIT Secretary General Mr. Praveen Khandelwal informed that Commercial markets in walled city including Chandni Chowk, Khari Baoli, Kashmiri Gate, Chawri Bazar, Nai Sarak, Naya Bazar, Sadar Bazar, Darya Ganj beside Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Paharganj, Khan Market in Central Delhi, Kamla Nagar, Ashok Vihar, Model Town, Rohini, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh, Punjabi Bagh in North Delhi,  Rajouri Garden, Tilak Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Naraina, Jail Road, Dwarka, Janakpuri in West Delhi, Defence Colony, South Extension, Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, Green Park, Hauz Khas, Sarojini Nagar, Tughlaqabad, Kalkaji in South Delhi, Laxmi Nagar, Jagatpuri, Gandhi Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Shahdara, Loni Road, Dilshad Garden, Mayur Vihar etc. will remain closed.

While observing day long Bandh, the protesting traders will stage Dharna at six places in Delhi including their main Dharna at Hauz Qazi, near Chawri Bazar Metro Station in walled city, Kamla Nagar & Model Town in North Delhi, Rajouri Garden in West Delhi, South Extension in South Delhi and Krishna Nagar in East Delhi.

The traders are demanding the Government to protect traders from sealing by bringing suitable law, an Amnesty Scheme on As is Where Is basis as on 31st December,2017, notifying 351 Roads as commercial or mix land use and increase in FAR to protect additional construction. It is regretted that Local Shopping Centres were given on commercial rates and now conversion charge is being asked for and sealing is conducted without giving any notice, which can’t be held justified. The entire sealing proceedings are being run in a dictatorial manner keeping aside the MCD Act,1957.
