Noida (27/07/2017) : Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority was launched amid much fanfare by UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday afternoon. However by the end of the day the website had received around 15,000 complaints from aggrieved buyers.

The nature of most complaints isn’t exactly clear yet but it is being expected that apart from complaining about builders many buyers have also registered their protest against the dilution of UP RERA policies. Most grievances pertain to leaving near-completed or on-going projects out of RERA ambit. Buyers of the region demand that Central RERA act must be adopted by the state in totality.

Now Pay to Complain:

After receiving 15,000 complaints on day one, Uttar Pradesh governments RERA portal has now upgraded its features and made it compulsory to pay a fees of 1000 rupees for lodging a complaint.

It has also been specifically mentioned on the complaints page that “Only an Allotee or Buyer of any registered project/promoter/Agent with UP RERA is entitled to file a complaint”.

As per government sources this has been done to check redundancy of complaints as well as to encourage only serious complainants to make use of facility. Governments want to monitor all the complaints being received through the portal and hence the provision has been made to ensure filtering at initial level.
