New Delhi: Months before the assembly election in Madhya Pradesh a controversy of 60 lakhs fake voters have come to light, which put the election commission on its toes.

A delegation of Congress senior leaders comprising Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Vivek Tankha and Digvijay Singh met with election commission officials and demanded to rectify the voter list.

Showing proof of their claims to the media at party office in New Delhi, Kamal Nath said, “Of 192 constituencies, we have found around 55 lakh voters are either duplicate or fake. If we add other issues the figure will go upto 60 lakh. It means out of 5.20 crore voters, 12 % (60 lakh) are fake and we lost previous election with 9% margin.”

He further said interestingly, “The population of state has risen by 24 % in last five years while 40% new voters have been added in the list. This is surprising”.

According to state election commission, there are 5, 07, 80, 373 voter in the state. Of which, 2, 65, 78, 271 are male and 2, 42, 00,785 are female and 1317 third gender.
On a single polling booth, total 23 voters, photos of all the voters are similar but the names are different. Interestingly, the same photo has been found in another polling booth with 13 different names.

In Bhojpur constituency’s polling booth number 245, a voter with the name of Dev Chand (card number IJP 3297140) has become Mukesh Kumar in the same booth with different card number 3297249. Moreover, at booth number 270 the same photo is pasted with three different names.

Speaking in the event, Congress MP, Jyotiraditya Scindia alleged ruling BJP for this and demanded probe. “We met with Election Commission officials and shown the presentation of the entire case. Commission has assured us to rectify the issue before July 31, 2018.”
