AAP demanded bill against sealing drive, Delhi police lathicharge agitators

New Delhi: Tension prevailed at Sansad Marg on Monday when police caned Aam Admi Party (AAP) workers, demanding to pass an ordinance to stop sealing drive in Delhi and also detained senior AAP leaders.

Senior AAP leaders, Minister and MLA’s including Aushutosh, Gopal Rai, Sourabh Bhardwaj, Sanjeev Jha were present when police opened lathi charge on workers.

Several people were seriously injured including women and senior citizens during the police action which begun when AAP workers trying to enter inside the restricted premises of the Parliament.

The budget session of the Parliament has begun from Monday and Finance Minister is going to present the budget on February 1, 2018.

Sealing drive has become a centre of controversy in Delhi from last couple of months. BJP, AAP and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) locked horn over the issue and playing blame game.

On January 27, BJP, MP and Delhi chief, Manoj Tiwari had called all party meeting at MCD house to chalk out the solution, however, it ended without any result.

In between, Delhi trader associations have launched an open fight against the administration and the Governments against sealing drive. They have called 48 hours band on February 2 and 3. While several shop owners whose shops were sealed by the administration is going to seat on hunger strike at Chandni Chowk from January 30, 2018.

They have been demanding for an ordinance to legalise unauthorised shops and major changes in Master Plan-2006.

AAP Protest

Aimed to build press on the Union Government regarding an ordinance on sealing, AAP workers had conducted a rally from Patel Chowk metro station to Sansad Marg on Monday.

Before the protest turned intense and police launched lathi charge several AAP leaders and MLAs shared their moot idea of protest.

While talking to the Ten News, senior AAP Leader, Gopal Rai said, “The budget session has started in the Parliament and we want from NDA government to pass an ordinance against sealing to root out it and give relief to Delhi traders. We will fight until the bill pass.”

Later, AAP MLA, Sourabh Bhardwaj said, “During the all party meeting on January 27, the house jumped to the conclusion that the issue can only be resolve if the Central government pass a bill regarding it.”

“Thus, we are protesting to build pressures on the government to pass the bill as soon as possible.” He added.
