It is often perceived to be the job of opposition to carry out protests, for the government has the privilege of not demanding but taking decisions. But Delhi being a Union Territory and National Capital is little different from other states. Since after Delhi’s AAP government came to power, the fight with LG has been a constant factor.
Erstwhile LG Najeeb Jung and incumbent Anil Baijal, both have been accused of hindering the work of AAP government. However the fight has never been so straight and intense as it is now.
While Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is inside the LG house on a sit-in stike, his supporters and other party leaders have converged in front of CM residence to protest against LG’s alleged role in disrupting Delhi Governments work.
The protesters initially were planned to march to LG house but the plan was thwarted because of exemplary security arrangement. The whole area surround Delhi LG residence, which currently also has Delhi CM along with his four colleagues in one of the waiting rooms, has been turned into a complete fortress.
However the arrangements couldn’t exactly dampen the spirit of Aam Aadmi Party workers who gathered in front of CM residence and constantly kept sloganeering against LG.
Speaking to Ten News, AAP Leader Aatishi Marlena said, “It is very unfortunate that Delhi’s development has been hindered by the IAS lobby on the behest of LG. The whole cadre is on a unsaid strike and are not letting any decisions pass. Many important works are suffering. We want that LG should immediately intervene and make sure that development of Delhi doesnt suffers because of such things”.
She also added that Delhi has given 7 MP seats to BJP and if the development is hindered the public resent will also be visible in 2019 elections.
