AIR INDIA AIR HOSTESS SLEPT ON DUTY , NEGLECTED DUTY : MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

In my journey through by flight no.998 of Air India . I found that one of the air-hostesses was lying asleep by neglecting her duty.

This is a very serious matter. Such negligence of duty may lead to insufficient response in much needed situations on board especially during emergencies.

When we shed light upon the recent incident that occurred in Dubai International Airport,where all the passengers in the endangered flight were rescued.

Adequate response from the crew played a major role in this mass rescue operation.On the contrary, when we take a look at the situation that i witnessed,the crew member was in negligence of her duty.

The crew members are provided with high salary and many more benefits including a 5-star stay every now and then. Thereby such 5-star response is expected from every crew member.

Air hostesses after their initial duty of guiding and serving the passengers are .expected to be positioned in their respective places without sleeping.

Incase of some medical distress, the crew members are supposed to report it to the pilot ,who will make the necessary arrangements to replace the crew in the particular position and provide a proper resting place for the sick crew member.

However, nothing was reported to the pilot,thereby proving that the air hostess was in negligence of her duty. The air hostess was asleep in a seat situated at the rear end of the flight near the washroom and the emergency exit.

Air India, being a flight that serves alcoholic content to its passengers, requires crew members at the rear end in order to prevent a very dangerous event of the opening of the emergency back door.
