Artist Swati Gupta’s first set of solo work ‘Vritti’ was inaugurated by Dr.Mahesh Sharma at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

Artist Swati Gupta’s first set of solo work named as ‘Vritti’ was inaugurated by Dr.Mahesh Sharma (Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Civil Aviation) by lighting the lamp, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 19thApril, 2015. Dr.Mahesh actually looked into each and every painting and tried to understand what it depicts.

Based on the theme of human tendencies to not take things for their face value, but as the surreal powers of the heart and mind dictate, the paintings garnered praise from everyone. Swati used innovative canvases such as tracing paper, leather, cotton dupattas, and gessoed boards in her work. The fluidic, layered images depict an astute sense of motion, and are often cathartic in nature, as they make the viewer traverse through his own mental and emotional labyrinth.

‘Vritti’ is a condensation of her internal whirlpool of thoughts, represented through visual narratives in the form of paintings and photographs.

She was overwhelmed by the response everyone gave her and said “I’ve worked really hard for this day. I was really excited and nervous at the same time but the way everyone appreciated my work it feels great and I thank everyone”.

She owes her accomplishments as an artist to Shri S. S. Kukkal, under whose aegis she grew and matured her style and form of art.She personifies her experiences thought her works, and translates her personal inquiry within into potent mindscapes, which draw the viewer into this stream of consciousness.
