ATDC awarded ‘Best Institute- Women Skill Development 2017 by #ASSOCHAM

Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), India’s Largest Quality Vocational Training Provider for the Apparel Industry with over 200 centres Pan India offering the entire range of apparel related vocational  courses from 300 hrs to 3000hrs B.Voc Degree has been selected as the ‘Best Institute- Women Skill Development 2017’ by the ASSOCIATED CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY OF INDIA (ASSOCHAM) at Summit-Cum-Awards on Skilling India- From Skills to Prosperity on August 9, 2017 in New Delhi. Nidhi Rawat ,Joint Registrar ,General Manager, Sponsorship, Daljit Kaur, Chief Coordinator, AVI and Manju Singh, Senior Deputy Registrar, Head – National Placement Cell received the award on behalf of ATDC. The award was conferred by Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

ATDC has received this award for the exemplary contributions in the ‘Women’s Skill Development in the country’. The Institute through its 200 Pan-India centres renders yeomen service to the downstream Apparel export and domestic manufacturing industries having trained over 2,00,000 candidates in short-term courses under ISDS of MOT, GOI as a Component I agency and also about 80,000 candidates in longer duration Vocational courses with 79-82% being women candidates. The total number of Women Candidate who were assessed and certified by ATDC was over 1, 50,000 (just under ISDS, MOT’s scheme alone).

The government has launched “Make in India” campaign with an aim to turn India an aspiring manufacturing hub and textile-apparel industries have a significant role in this vision. Skill Development Initiative needs the considerable amount of expansion on capacity and innovative delivery approaches and Public Private Partnerships. Recognizing the importance of skill development and entrepreneurship in the country, the Federal & State Government have laid priority on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The key highlights of the summit were Forecast of Skills linked to the new Business order, Models of Collaboration & Partnerships towards Successful Skilling, Strategy for effective execution for real success & sustainability, from Employability to Employment: Challenges & Way Forward in Skilling to Placement), Enabling Financial Support for Start Up Businesses/ entrepreneurship and Skilling to Placement – A Case Study.

“When more and more women join the workforce, the country progresses rapidly and their contribution to productivity increases the GDP of the country  and the economic well-being of families. For women in general apparel manufacturing , design etc. are some of the best fitting jobs and there is visible recognition of women’s  contribution in the apparel/fashion/retail sectors and ATDC encourages women to take up the apparel training as a career option making every efforts to nurture their talent, skills and dedication ,” said Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG&CEO-ATDC.

“We are committed to train more women for their skill development so that they can earn while improving families’ wellbeing and this encourages us,” he added.

ATDC was recognised for its  innovative training initiatives like creation of brand ‘SMART’ (Skills for Manufacturing of Apparel through Research & Training), Launch of ATDC-JUKI Tech Innovation Centre, ‘Product Specialty Centres’, denovo approaches such as SIMULATED PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT, State-of-the-Art Infrastructure, SMART Trainee Kits, Training of Trainers Academies for Continuous up gradation. Today, ATDC is a single largest vocational training provider for the apparel sector in the country with about 200 ATDCs that include 65 ATDC Vocational Institutes and over 135 ATDC-SMART Centres and Skill Camps offering state-of the- art vocational programmes and probably the single largest training provider for any vocational trade in India and single largest beneficiary or Nodal Agency for implementation of a government’s skill development scheme. ATDC has also received The ASSOCHAM Award for ‘Best Vocational Institute’ 2014 and is a proud recipient of UK-India Skill Forum Award as well.  ATDC awarded ‘Best Institute: Innovation 2015’ by ASSOCHAM. ATDC was awarded ‘Best Vocational Training Provider (VTP) Training-2016 (Gold Trophy)’ by ASSOCHAM ‘.
