BJP Targets Kejriwal, Alleges Ration Scam Under AAP Government

New Delhi: The recent report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) which exposed the prevailing irregularities of the Arvind Kerjriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has given enough armor to the opposition party BJP to corner the government.
In this row, senior leaders and members of Delhi BJP held a massive protest outside Delhi Assembly today. They were chanting Kejriwal Chor hai, Maafi ke sartaj Delhi ke janta ko bhi maaf karo, Lalu ke mousere bhai koun kerjiwal – Kejriwal. They demanded resignation of Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kerjiwal because he failed to run the government.
The recent CAG report found, corruption on Rs 257 crore in Ration Distribution system. The foodgrains carted from Food Corporation of India to Public Distribution Centers on Bikes and autorickshaw just like fooder scam of Bihar.The corruption in the government’s public distribution system where it said that 792 ration shop licence-holders were enjoying subsidised foodgrains that could have otherwise been given to the poor. Delhi’s quota of ration card holders has been full and no new beneficiaries are being added.
In addition to financial irregularities, the CAG also highlighted cases of administrative oversight and inaction that resulted in delayed projects and inefficient operations.
While protesting, BJP MP and National spokesperson, Meenakshi Lekhi said, “The government which has come to power in the name of poor’s is taking away the food from their plates.”
Later, BJP MP, Udit Raj Slaming AAP government and said, “The CBI enquiry will unveil the ugly face of AAP government.”
Meanwhile, Delhi CM, Kejriwal yesterday told media that his government was trying to control the “ration mafia” and blamed the Lieutenant Governor for stalling a scheme to start doorstep delivery of subsidised foodgrain. Last month, the L-G returned the file asking the government to re-work the scheme and consider cash transfer of subsidies.
“The entire ration system is in the grip of mafia protected by political masters. Doorstep delivery would have destroyed this mafia,” the CM said.
