In the latest development Civil Aviation Directorate has proposed three different models for the development of Jewar Airport. The proposal has been forwarded to State government for consideration.

Citing economic deficit, Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority refuses SPV model

After the initial enthusiasm of Yogi Adityanath led UP government, it was being expected that some budget will be allocated in this year’s State budget for development of Jewar Airport. But this did not happen. Now Civil Aviation Directorate is brainstorming over various models that can be put to use for development of this project. In this regard three models have been proposed to State government and a reply is awaited. The first option has provision for collaboration between state and central government for development of the airport. Second model proposes to give complete charge of the same to State government alone. The third model proposes creating a SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle/Entity) model between Civil Aviation and Yamuna Authority.

Under this both the entities will contribute INR 100 crore as part of development fund. Remaining amount of approximately 18,000 crore will be taken as loan. However given the current economic condition of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, it has objected to this proposal.

Now it is being expected that the state government will decide between the other two available options.

YEIDA CEO Arun Veer Singh says, “It is up to State Government to study feasibility of different models being proposed by Civil Aviation Department. After any such decision is made we will start process for finalizing an agency for preparation of Financial and technical feasibility’.

Civil Aviation Directorate is also taking necessary measures to keep several simultaneous processes required for construction of Jewar Airport on-going to minimize any lapse of time.
