CM TRIVENDRA SINGH RAWAT FLAGS OFF FLO’S ALL- WOMEN CAR RALLY IN SUPPORT OF ‘SAVE THE GIRL CHILD’ TO MARK IT’S LAUNCH
Dehradun January 14, 2018 Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat here on Sunday flagged off an all woman car rally organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) with an aim to create awareness among the people of the hill state to ‘Save the girl child” from his official residence.
Yesterday (January 13) CM Trivendra Singh Rawat had launched the Dehradun chapter of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) , the women business wing of apex business body Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) .
“ Seeing the improved sex ration , which was heavily skewed against girl child in Haryana after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘ Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign in that state , Uttarakhand government has also launched similar campaign in view of the child sex ratio heavily skewed against the girl child in three districts of Uttarakhand namely Pithoragarh, Haridwar and Champavat.” Said CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, while flagging off the all women car rally.
“After launch of ‘ Beti Bachao Beti padao’ Scheme in state the sex child ratio in district of Pithoragarh has increased from 813 girls to 914 girls per thousand men which is a positive sign . Getting encouraged we plan to have ‘ Beti bachao Beti padao’ brand ambassador in each block in each district “ said beaming CM Rawat.
“ we plan to start several schemes for women empowerment in the state including setting up all women readymade garment centres in various parts of the state , initially starting with 15 centres and taking the number to 670 centres in near future. . Government has already started distributing LED bulbs in state through Women Self Help Groups . Government now plans to procure LED bulbs and tubes through IIT students Indian start up company to promote make in India as well as curb Chinese imports “ said Mr Rawat.
“This heavily skewed child ratio against the girl child in the three districts is a matter of grave concern, The all woman car rally organised by FLO will help raise support for gender parity. There is need to carry out more similar campaigns to improve the child sex ratio in the state” said CM Rawat.
“The main objective of FLO’s all woman car rally is to create awareness to save the lives of the girl child and fight female foeticide. We wish to celebrate the birth of a girl and educate them,” said Ms Vasvi Bharat Ram, National President, FICCI Ladies Organisation(FLO) while speaking at the flagging off ceremony.
“ we seek government support for women empowerment in the state including sertting up of all women industrial park , creating mahila haats, a separate budget for women skill development and procuring goods from women business establishments “ said ms Vasvi .
“About 60 woman participant cars are taking part in the 33 Km all woman car rally to send a message of save and educate the girl child across hill state as well as to help bring about an attitudinal change in favour of the girl child,” said Ms Shilpi Arora, Chairperson, FLO Dehradun Chapter while speaking on the occasion .
Some of dignitaries present included Uttarakhand Minister Dhan Singh Rawat , Ms Shivangi Sharma, Miss Uttarakhand, Ms Vinita Bimbhet, Past President, FLO, and Ali Zafar Abbas , film producer.
The cars participating in the rally had various slogans and messages on save the girl child .
Women empowerment and child development minister Rekha Arya along with host of dignitaries were present on the occasion.
The rally culminated at Antara Senior living at Purkul road where prizes were distributed to the rally participants .
