Woman inmates being abused at Delhi Shelter Home alleges Congress

New Delhi: After sexual abuse, cases at shelter homes inĀ Uttar Pradesh and Bihar came to light. Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Chief Of Mahila Congress, Sushmita dev decided that in every state they will give a surprise visit to shelter homes.
The Delhi Commission for Women set up an expert committee to conduct social audit of all shelter homes in the capital. The aim of this movement was to inspect and assess the condition of government and private run shelter homes for women and girls.
On Saturday, Delhi Congress Chief Spokesperson, Sharmistha Mukherjee alleged that the shelter homes listed on Delhi police website are in pathetic space and women are assaulted and physically abused by the outsiders.
Addressing the Media, Sharmistha Mukherjee said,
“You know about the abuse in shelter homes at Muzaffarpur, Deoria.
In this aspect Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Sushmita dev, Chief of Mahila Congress decided that in every state we will give a surprise visit to shelter homes across the country. In Delhi when we visited shelter homes with our team in different groups and we choosed a criteria to give a surprise visit specially to shelter homes which are listed on Delhi Police website . Shockingly we found that the women are abused over there by the outsiders.”
“We made a a video also in which we can see that how women are treated over there and assaulted by the outsiders. The woman in this video clearly says that how men come from outside and Physically abuse them. We have lodged a complaint in this regards,” added Mukherjee.
