Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi Government has given ultimatum to the University of Delhi (DU) on the issue of not forming a governing body in the government colleges. The Government has clearly said that if the governing body will not be created in 28 colleges of Delhi government affiliated to DU till July 31, the funds of Rs 350 crore given to these colleges will be banned from August 1.

Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia has written a letter to the Higher Education Secretary giving this directive. It has been said that the DU should be told that the governing body is not formed in the given time, then the government will not even fund it. The copy of this order has also been sent to the Principal Secretary of Finance Department.

Manish Sisodia has taken a very strong stand and said that it is astonishing that the issue of making the governing body of colleges is being avoided from October 2016. The government is repeatedly writing to the DU that there is a problem in the functioning of colleges. The process of appointing adhoc and permanent teachers is going on in colleges. It is clear that the intentionally governing body is not being formed in the colleges.
