Delhi markets will close on Feb 2 and 3 against sealing drive, says Delhi traders association

If you are planning for marketing on February 2 and 3 in Delhi, this news is for you. Delhi traders associations called off for 48 hours strike against sealing drive aimed to build pressure of Central Government and Delhi government.

Moreover, to challenge sealing drive, the traders association has decided to appeal in the Supreme Court to seek immediate relief.

The resolution has been passed in the presence of around 400 traders during a traders meet on Saturday afternoon under the banner of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.

“All associations and traders have decided to close Delhi markets on February 2 and 3 to protest against sealing drive in Delhi. The decision has been taken in the presence of more than 400 traders,” said Chairman of CIAT Praveen Khandelwal during the meet.

“The traders’ city is choking and both the governments have turned their deaf ears to us. We have taken this extreme step to build pressures on the governments, thus they immediately stop sealing drive,” Khandelwal added.

The association has passed slew of resolution during the meeting are as follow–

  • 48 hours band in Delhi.
  •  Meet with MPs, MLAs and all three Mayors of the MCD and hand over a memorandum to stop sealing immediately.
  • A delegation of traders will meet with the sealing monitoring committee and asked to stop the sealing drive and how to deseal those shops which were sealed in the light of Master Plan-2006.
  • Install more than 50,000 bill boards or hording in Delhi for successful band.
