“Every year we should invest US $250 billion in Infra sector” : Commerce and Industry minister Suresh Prabhu at The Economic Times Infra Focus Summit

September 2017, Delhi: The 5th edition of The Economic Times Infra Focus Summit brought the luminaries and policymakers of the Infrastructure sector under one roof to discuss and formulate holistic solutions for key infrastructural challenges across Asian nations. The event was held at the Taj Mahal hotel in Delhi.

During the event, Commerce and Industry minister Suresh Prabhu, congratulated The Economic Times for its role as a change agent and said that with the rise in infrastructure investments in India, the sector should be at least 10 percent of the GDP. “Every year we should invest US $250 billion, but for promoting that we need different ideas and policies that we can implement. I appeal to all of you participating in the summit to give ideas so that we can work on the ground,” he added.

Remarking on the pioneering effort made by the group, Deepak Lamba, President – Times Strategic Solutions, said:“It was exciting to see the leaders reach a positive direction with discussions on enhancing and exploring opportunities for the growth of technology, energy and transport sectors – the overarching beneficiaries of the infrastructure sector. I am sure that this summit will serve as an impetus for the development of this sector with special emphasis on execution of projects.”

At the summit, industry experts discussed and shared their thoughts through interactive sessions to deliberate on how to facilitate successful infrastructure partnerships and boost trade and economic activities among Asian nations. The theme ‘Building Business Beyond Boundaries’ garnered interesting viewpoints that could contribute to the growth story for the infrastructural projects, especially for Asian nations.

With four successful years under its belt, the 5th edition of the Infra Focus saw this platform act as a catalyst for driving infrastructural development across the South-East Asian region, which is India’s greatest ally in nation building, infrastructural & socio economic development. It was The Economic Times’ endeavour with this year’s Summit to up the ante in the Infrastructure space & make this Summit one whose ripple effects could be felt globally in the years to come.
