Noida : Vimla Batham, former BJP MLA from Noida, has been made the chairperson of state women commission.

On Wednesday, Ten News Caught with Newly Appointed Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh, Women Commission, Vimla Batham, to talk her on various issues.

Speaking to Ten News about her Priorities as the Chairperson of State Women Commission, she said,

“Our Priorities will be women security and to remove the sense of fear amongst the women. In other words if I say it has to be the women empowerment will be our priority. Women are often treated inferior to the men and we have to break this jinx also. In the society women status is not secondary but in mainstream they are equal to men. Even I would say women are one step ahead of men in their thinking and approach. Men are physically strong but women are mentally strong as well. Our main focus is to build awareness amongst the women about their rights and freedom. If the woman will get aware she will be empowered by herself. ”

When asked about the shocking shelter home incidents and what futuristic steps the Women Commission will take to prevent such cases, she said,

“Deoria shelter home case is already under investigation. We have already recruited our Member in three different Districts where with the help of SSP, DM of that area, the members will be working as a team. The team will gather all the information regarding unauthorised running shelter homes even the authorised shelter homes as well as will be probing those may be doing wrong things under the license. So our primary motive is to seal all the unauthorised shelter homes.”

Speaking about the challenges for her Commission, she said,

“As i said we have constituted a team. So that team on First Wednesday of every month, Will stage a ‘Jan Panchayat’. In that daughters, women’s will join and will tell about their problems. There are instances where women are not able to share their pain and problems. So by forming a ‘Jan Panchayat’ we will try to solve their issues. It’s been two days only i have taken charge. We will surely work in a tandem. If i talk about deoria shelter home case the accused will be punished. Whoever will be involved in this incident will get his/her due.”

Speaking about the burden of responsibilities since the post of Women’s Commission Chairperson was vacant for a long time, She said,

“It’s more about responsibilities than a post. We have a lot of work and specially on the awareness of the women. They don’t know about their rights and keep on suffering without knowing where to complaint. So we are looking in these matters. If future you will see how much work we have done in this department.”

When asked about what Necessary steps will be taken for the women empowerment, she said,

” We will go to different places and meet women to make them aware. We will conduct a Awareness programme. Every month There will ‘Jan Panchayat’ in several districts in order to Aware them and solve their problems. If a woman is strong financially she automatically becomes empowered. Women don’t know how much capacity they have. They can do everything without being dependent on anyone.”
