Faridabad: guru parab celebrated at G.D.Goenka School Faridabad

The Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated by the educational institutions of Faridabad on Tuesday.  A special program was held at G.D.Goenka Public School. Principal Dr. Shreesh Bhardwaj informed the students about the importance of the day. He said that the full moon day (Purnima) of Kartik month in Vikrami Samvat, the lunar calendar that used to be followed for festivals in Indian culture. He educated the students that Guru Nanak Dev was the first of the ten Gurus of Sikhs. He was also the founder of Sikhism, said Bhardwaj. Guru Nanak Dev was a believer of one god across all the religions. He informed the students that Guru Nanak preached his followers to follow the principles of one god and service to mankind.

Later Sanjeevni Aggarwal of Class VII spoke about the significance of the day, followed by an address by Sanjana Bedi of Class IX. Students of class VI made the atmosphere divine when they recited Shabad chanting verses and singing hymns.
