As Anna Hazare’s hunger strike reached its third day, 227 farmers also joined hunger strike.

During the agitation one protestor fainted whereas there has been no response from the central government so far.

Social activist Anna Hazare’s indefinite hunger strike against the union government entered into third day on Sunday.

The strike got a huge boost when 227 farmers from different parts of the country joined the ongoing hungers strike on Sunday.

Since March 23, 2018, social activist Anna Hazare is on indefinite hunger strike at iconic Ram Lila Maidan, where he had sat on a hunger strike in 2011 demanding that the then-government to set up a Lokpal to investigate cases of corruption.

This time, Hazare has been pressing for setting up Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in the states and implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report, which has suggested ways to address the agrarian distress.

Nearly seven years after his anti-corruption movement caught the imagination of millions of Indians and shook the then-UPA government. This time, Narendra Modi-led NDA government are on his target.

However, despite support of different farmers’ associations, enthusiasm and eagerness were missing from the crowd on Sunday. It seems that the ongoing hunger strike has lost its sheen. And on Sunday, very few footfalls has also been reported.

Meanwhile, around 12:30, a protestor, Mahendra Singh, hailing from Rajasthan fainted during the hunger strike and he had been rushed to the LNJP hospital.

Even after three days, Union government has not responded to Anna’s call.
