Farmers Protest at Noida Authority, allege non-fulfilment of 40 year old demands

Farmers from different region of Noida today protested at Noida authority alleging no resolution of their number of demands pending since last 40 years.
Farmers today organized a symbolic protest at Noida authority office situated in sector-6 and submitted a memorandum on 17 different issues. Farmers also demanded information of last two and half years of development done for the benefit of farmers by Noida Authority.
A protesting farmer said, “Despite change of government and introduction of various welfare schemes by Union and State governments, the Noida Authority isn’t moving forward to resolve issues of farmers. Farmers are even being framed in land-encroachment cases. Compensations aren’t being handed to farmers, jobs promised at the time of land acquisitions haven’t been given, parks and sport complexes promised to villages haven’t been made. Farmers are aggrieved and are facing regular problems”.
Farmers have also warned that they will sit on an indefinite strike in front of Noida Authority if their demands aren’t fulfilled at the earliest.

Confrontation with Law and Order Authorities

After culmination of the symbolic protest, farmers attempted to enter the authority office to meet concerned officials and raise their demands. However they were immediately stopped by the police officials present to maintain law and order.
Farmers and police officials had a verbal confrontation and police was able to restrain them from entering the authority office.
