Farmers threaten to stop construction of eastern peripheral expressway, “Mahapanchayat” to be organized soon

(19/06/2017) Greater Noida : Gathered under the banner of “Eastern Peripheral Expressway Pratirodh Aandolan”, a large delegation of farmers affected by development of Eastern Peripheral expressway today revealed the strategy of future mass protest planned to be organized to press for their long pending demands.

Farmers allege that Government and administration is being partial with them by not giving them their due.
Farmers have raised four major demands and want concerned authorities to take actions on the same. The demands include compensation as per four times of prevailing land rates as per Land Acquisition Law of 2013, job or five lakh rupees to every individual over 25 years from affected families, construction of service roads and connection lanes to concerned villages and waiver of toll tax for farmers of the region.

A delegation of farmers from the group has also met CM Yogi Adityanath soon after his swearing on 26th March. Delegation claims that CM had assured them to meet all their demands and necessary instruction were also given to officials present during the meeting including NHAI GM B S Singla, PE Kishore, the then DM of GB Nagar N P Singh among others. They claim to have waited for three months after the meeting however nothing changed on ground and hence they have to resort to a stir now.

The group plans to hold a “Mahapanchayat” (large congregation of farmers) of all NCR villages on 25th June at Bil Akbarpur village. They have threatened to stop the ongoing construction work of Eastern peripheral Expressway of government and administration doesn’t pay heed to their demands.

Present during the meeting were Sunil Fauzi, Balraaj Bhati, Chaudhary Lakhi Ram Bhati, Sukhpal, Pappu Nagar, Rajesh Nagar, Shyam Veer, Rajpal Singh Nagar, Sushil Arya and others.
