On sidelines of GES 2017 a seminar on “Indian Media & Entertainment Sector Vision 2020 & Beyond” was organized at India Expo Mart.

 

Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting delivered the Keynote address as chief guest of the seminar.

Speaking at the seminar he said that government is focused on promoting content creation and encouraging a free environment for media and entertainment sector.


Answering to questions regarding competition in Film industry, monopoly of big directors and shortage of fund for small-fimakers, Minister of State for information & broadcasting said,”We have a platform which service market and films and we are looking forward to involve more stakeholders.

We believe Film Making a open market and therefore government cannot get into it and put a cap on it. A lot of money is coming from banks to Indian filmmakers as a loan and it is prerogative of banks whom they want to fund or not”.

Mr. Arun Thapar, EVP & Head of content, A+E Networks and Network 18 JV- AETN18 said,  “Period drama is growing worldwide and it’s high time that our producers and directors also started with exploring this domain at same stature and grandeur”.

He further added that,”Original content creation is on an all time high. Countries like Croatia and Turkey are producing exceptionally plethora of good content and we also need to move in this direction”.
