Former MEA Secy, Dnyaneshwar Mulay Hints at Joining Politics at his Farewell Ceremony Organised by Lokmat

New Delhi:(16/03/2019) One of India’s most distinguished bureaucrat Dnyaneshwar Mulay who has served at many capacities within the country as well as India’s missions all around the world was given a befitting farewell on Friday in the presence of eminent personalities including union Minister Suresh Prabhu.



The ceremony was organised by Lokmat, One of India’s leading print media to honour the most exceptional work done by Indian Bureaucrat and Former, MEA Secretary Mulay on Ground level.

Power packed with eminent personalities, the ceremony witnessed the Presence of Commerce, Industry and Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu, Vijay Darda, Former Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman, Lokmat Media Group along with Mulay and his wife Sadhna Shanker.

The evening was organized at India International Center, New Delhi, where many elite personalities of the country also joined.

Speaking about Honouring Dyaneshwar Mulay, Vijay Darda, Chairman of Lokmat Group, said that, “People like Dnyaneshwar are very few. Respecting them is a matter of joy for Lokmat. Dnyaneshwar have been associated with Lokmat for a long time. In every language, his articles on foreign policy have been published in Lokmat. We hope that he will continue to be associated with Lokmat.”

Darda also appreciated the contribution of Dnyaneshwar Mulay in Passport Service and said that people are beginning to know him by the name of ‘Passport Man’.

Speaking at the occasion, Dnyaneshwar Mulay said that “Good people should come in politics.” He referred to retirement as a re-attirement and gave indications of coming into politics.

Addressing the gathering he said, “A bureaucrat can also serve the country in a very good way which I did. After retirement, there is a open sky in front of me. Where I can jump to many things for serving the country further. I’m feeling like a 12th Standard boy who can do anything at present.”

Talking about politics, he said, “I am interested in politics. But to get into it four things are needed – money, people, caste and merit, I only have merit. Politics is a very difficult to be in.”

Speaking to Ten News about his journey so far at his Farewell Ceremony, Former MEA Secretary, Dyaneshwar Mulay said,

“So far it has been exciting journey and now i believe that journey going to be more exciting. You know when you so called retire. Actually one thing is to recharge now to do something bigger,something better and in true sense to do service of the society. I have not just faith in myself but have faith in Indian Society to see potential of my country.”

When asked about his entry into politics, he said, “I have every desire to join politics. You have to have a Money Power, Muscle Power, Correct cast equation. I’m not sure that i fit completely in this calculations but that doesn’t deter me to have faith in my democracy and i will do anything to safeguard it, promote it and expand it.”

Vijay Darda, Chairman, Lokmat while speaking to Ten News said,

“There is tradition in our country that good people should be honoured for their work.so people work for their country as government officials, some work as bureaucrats, some work in judiciary so people should be honoured who do good work.”

He further said, ” I’m Honoring Dyaneshwar Mulay because his contribution for our country is unmatched. The way he has taken Marathi across the country makes us feel that’s it a honour of 11-12 crore Maharashtrians. As you know Lokmat represents the 11-12 crore Maharashtrians and Lokmat is the number one Newspaper in Marathi. If Lokmat is Honoring someone, means that person is something.”
