#Greater Nodia building collapse: Three dead, rescue underway, police arrested three

Greater Noida: Sensation prevailed, when two buildings, one is under-construction and another residential building collapsed in Shah Beri village of Greater Noida on Tuesday night in which three people died and likely 22 people trapped under the debris.

Till morning, three bodies have been retrieved by the teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from the debris and rescue operations to recover rest of them are under way.

According to the police, three people, including the builder Ganga Shanker Dubey and his two associates Dinesh and Sanjeev (broker) have been arrested in connection with the incident. Talking to media, IG Meerut, Ram Kumar said, “We have recovered three bodies. Their identity is still unknown. Three of them were either working as security guards or as labours. The rescue operation will take some more time. We have called big machines for the same. Moreover, we have also arrested three people in the case.”

Soon after the mishap, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and asked the District Magistrate to follow up with the National Disaster Response Force teams and Police for relief measures and to ensure immediate rescue. Soon after, State’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya took note of the incident and assured the residents that the government will make all efforts to rescue the victims.

“There has been news of building collapse in Greater Noida. There is a possibility of some family members being trapped in the debris of the building. The District Administration and the NDRF teams have been sent for relief and rescue work. Our government is with kin of victims,” said Maurya
