I.T.S Dental College, Hospital & Research Centre, Greater Noida observed “WORLD AIDS DAY” with the global theme of “GETTING TO ZERO” on December 1, 2015, while joining the world community in its fight against the epidemic of century. The dept. of Oral Pathology organized a function in Vivekananda Auditorium to observe “WORLD AIDS DAY” wherein Director PG Studies Dr. Anmol S. Kalha and Principal Dr. Puneet Ahuja along with HODs, faculty members and students participated.Director, P.G. Studies, Dr. Anmol S. Kalha delivered a hard hitting speech on the global effect of HIV-AIDS and what role the college and dentists can play. While addressing the gathering Principal, Dr. Puneet Ahuja said that 1st December has assumed a great significance as a reminder to the world community to play an affirmative role in controlling HIV/AIDS, an epidemic, threatening to wipe out or render ineffective, the most productive population groups. He presented various facts and figures of HIV-AIDS related to the global scenario and the Indian Context through an eye opening powerpoint presentation. This was followed by a wonderful video which was presented by the Interns on the “Myths & Misconceptions” about HIV and AIDS. It was thoroughly praised by all faculty and students. On this occasion the students & Interns of the college keenly participated in a Chart Competition to reinforce the strong theme for this year HIV- AIDS- “GETTING TO ZERO”. The winners were awarded prizes and certificates by the Director and Principal. The program ended with a pledge to “get AIDS down to ZERO” by 2030 and to spread knowledge about this disease.
