IDA Delhi announces ‘The Protein Week’ aimed at building awareness about Protein

Indian Dietetic Association (IDA), Delhi chapter on Tuesday declared (24 July to 30 July) as the Protein week. This initiative is supported by Protein Foods Nutrition Development Association of India (PFNDAI) and considered as a big opportunity to encourage people to become better informed about protein which is integral to our general health and well being.

The launch witnessed the presence of Dr. B. Sesikeran, renew nutritional along with members of IDA Neelanjana Singh, Dr. Seema Puri and many others. Talking about the myths around proteins, Dr. B. Sesikeran said, In India there are many myths around the sources of proteins, people are confused about their dietary protein intake and often assume that it is for body builders only.

However it is a fundamental nutrient across life stages that helps in maintaining good health, he added. He concluded that, Indians lack awareness about good quality sources of protein.

 

During this week, IDA along with PFNDAI will hold educational seminars engaging key opinion leaders across the country to add myths of protein.
