Doctors from all over India have been in great distress owing to certain provision of NMC bill introduced  by government. While medical students and doctors have been raising this issue independently at various locations all over India, the major fight was being led by IMA at National level.

After government made certain amendment, IMA on Sunday issued a statement acknowledging the same and addressing doctors to be ready for further agitations.

It started with thanking all for their support and read, “Last 3 months of tremendous support from all of u , Strike call on 2 nd January, IMA Yatra undertaken by our dynamic national president Dr Ravi Wankhedkar ,Cycle Rally and Cycle Yatra, Chhatra Sansad ,and Doctor’s Mahapanchayat on 25th March have consolidated the fraternity and forced the Govt and the Parliamentary Standing Committee Of Health to agree some of our demands related to National Medical Commission Bill but many issues still need further clarifications and issue of allowing to decide fees for 50% seat to Private College Management & “Poor Representation to States & Medical Universities” are still not addressed”

Highlighting other unaddressed points it said, “Also no concrete steps are taken till date to implement our other important long standing demands like Central Act against Violence, Capplng Of compensation , issues related to CEA,and amendments to PC PNDT Act even after agreeing in Inter Ministerial Committee”.

It culminated with a call to be ready for further fight, “On this background we appeal to the entire medical fraternity to be ready for INTENSIFIED DIRECT ACTION immediately as mandated by MAHAPANCHAYAT if these issues are not sorted out and if NMC Bill is forced upon in the present format”.
