15th August 2014, BIMTECH, Greater Noida

Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, celebrated the Nations 68th Independence Day, with great enthusiasm and national pride. The day started with the Director, Dr. H.C. Chaturvedi hoisting the national flag followed by the national anthem. The director emphasised the need for unity among diverse students and how the institute unifies them into one cohesive Bimtech family. The director left the podium with an intriguing question like how do you connect yourself to the people of our country who are sick, poverty stricken, ignorant and hunger stricken?

Bimtech organised PRATIBHA– an annual-intra-college fest. This is the first event of the academic calendar and is solely organised by the students. It helps the students to hone and develop their management skills. PRATIBHA hosts a variety of cultural events and business/management centric events. The key significance of PRATIBHA is that it acts as a platform for students to showcase their talents and to venture into new and different realms.

The students got an opportunity to showcase their creative and innovative business acumen through events such as “The best manager competition” and live case studies in which students came out with exemplary strategies and ideas within a limited time duration.

To emphasize on the importance of culture, PRATIBHA is host to numerous cultural events such as Tarang (the singing competition), Razzmataz (the dancing competition) and various electrifying band performances. Such events help the students to learn the importance of team spirit and to adapt and accept different cultures.

A parliamentary debate called “CrossFire”, on “Article 370” was organised. An overwhelming participation and intense discussion was witnessed.

The star attraction of the day and which the students were looking forward to, was “FASHIONISTA (the fashion show)”.

PRATIBHA was used as a platform to create awareness to curb food wastage. The campaign named WOW (War on Wastage) was embarked. Every poster and mail from the institute has been depicting the WOW logo. Awareness campaign in the guise of poster making competition, placards quoting quotes from Gita, figures and pictures of food scarcity etc. played the pivot role in the fest.

Thus, the celebration of the Independence Day was a mix of culture, team spirit, unity and was embedded with a social cause which the future managers from the b-schools need to ponder upon for global success and humanity.
