The Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has rescued himself from hearing a plea challenging Nageshwar Rao’s appointment as the interim director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)

Gogoi said that he is a member of the PM-Modi-led Selection Committee which will meet on 24 January to pick the new CBI Director. The plea will also be heard on the same day by another bench.
