Karnataka election: BJP leaders file complain against Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for making communal remark, demand action

New Delhi: Alleging bias and misuse of power by ruling government of Karnataka and playing of communal card by the Congress leaders in the Karnataka election, a delegation of senior BJP leaders met with officials of Election Commission today.

After half an hours of meeting with election commission officials, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nitin Gadkari, MA Naqvi and Dharmendra Pradhan briefed media over the issue of their visit.

While talking to media, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “Huge irregularities have been prevailing in the poll-bound Karnataka and state election commission is watching like a mute spectator.”

Referring to the recent Congress leader and Leader of Opposition (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Nabi Azad, he alleged, “Congress is openly playing communal card in the election and his leader Ghulam Nabi Azad is saying, voting to Congress would be the real service of Islam. Is this right? EC should take action against Ghulam Nabi Azad.”  

“Moreover, religious processions are being barred by the state by the state government, which was being carried out from years there.” He added.

Later, Union Minister of Law Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “On the sign of state government, police officials, commissioners hampering BJP’s campaign vehicle and allowing Congress workers to distribute money.”

“We have complained EC by showing all documents, however, commission has assured that to take action after conducting investigation in the matter.” He added.
