The activists of Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) along with a large number of students from government schools held a protest demonstration at Ambedkar University on Friday . The protest was against the sky-high cut-offs released by AUD as well as conduction of entrance examinations for admission to postgraduate courses in English only, which will bar deprived students from seeking admission to the university. The activists burnt a copy each of cut-off and entrance examination question paper in protest.

Protesters said the AUD has released very high cut-offs which will render it impossible for students from Delhi’s government schools to seek admission in a university ironically named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Moreover, the Delhi Govt-funded University already has 85% reservation for Delhi’s residents, which is being demanded by the AAP government for all Delhi Govt-funded DU colleges. But, such high cut-offs only demonstrate that despite the reservation, the seats will be allotted only to students coming from affluent sections. Clearly, such tactics of garnering cheap publicity by hoodwinking Delhi’s population demonstrate AAP’s disregard for implementing schemes meant to curb inequality in higher education.
