We want to report an incidence of large scale garbage burning. A huge garbage dump has been formed near to Sector 78, 79 and daily tons of garbage is being dumped here. This garbage is being set of fire daily to burn continuously 24X7. The resulting pollution is suffocating residents of nearby sectors of 78, 79, 77, 76 etc. A permanent smog has enveloped the area and the air is laced with acrid burning smell. This has resulted in respiratory problems and has become a health hazard. The smoke is so heavy and concentrated that it is coming inside our houses and it has become difficult to breathe. NGT vide its order in April 2015, had banned garbage burning and had ordered the authorities to implement the order. It is to be noted that waste burning is responsible for a major portion of emissions in Noida. Nearly 29.4% of the total PM10 (coarse, pollution particles) are from waste burning. Burning trash in the open area produces many pollutants, including dioxins, particulate pollution, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide (CO), hexachlorobenzene—ash and fumes released from such burning can be carcinogenic. NGT had also announced a fine of Rs 5,000 on anyone who is caught burning dry leaves, plastic, rubber or any other waste material in NCR.

The current PM 10 and PM 2.5 levels of Noida are worse than Delhi and Gurgaon.

2. Relocate the garbage dump.
