New Delhi 8th September 2017 – To pay homage to Late Major General Raj Krishan Malhotra on his birthday anniversary Global Counter Terrorism Council (GSTC) in Association with Centre for Media Studies today organised a seminar on the topic – “Comprehensive View of India’s National Security from the Prism of Geo-Politics”. Late Major General Raj Krishan Malhotra was also the Founder Member of GCTC.
The defence fraternity on Saturday remembered Late Major General Raj Krishan Malhotra on his birth anniversary with other prominent personalities from journalism paying floral tributes to him on his birth anniversary.
The Inaugural session was started with a welcome note from GCTC (Global Counter Terrorism Council- a civil society thinktank group) by Prof. Sudhir Sopory, Former Vice Chancellor, Jawahar Lal Nehru University and Prof. Jagadeesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor- Jawahar Lal Nehru University. Prof. Jagadeesh Kumar said” Potential for conflict between countries is on rise for various reasons. National Security concerns therefore take centre stage in any bilateral relations. One of the ways to address India’s security concerns, therefore, is to invest more in defence research to develop indigenous defence technologies”.
Shri Suresh Prabhu, Union Commerce Minister joined through video-Conferencing and said:” About the biggest challenge the modern society is facing is Terrorism. Terrorists don’t believe in law; they don’t believe in humanity; not believe in the dignity of human life; they just want to terrorise people to achieve their goal. They are anti-human, anti-social and anti-national as well.”
A short film was shown on Late Maj. Gen. Raj Krishan Malhotra, Founder Member, Global Counter Terrorism Council on his contribution to National Security & Defence Studies.
The daylong seminar had prominent speakers from defence and government fraternity.
Gen. JJ Singh, Former Governor & COAS, said “India’s diplomacy, army and other bureaucracy needs a policy of integration to deal with modern international relations and security. “
Shekhar Dutt, Former Governor & Defence Secretary & Dy. NSA, said “Study of India’s Geography is important to secure our borders.”
Lt. Gen. H S Lidder, Former Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, said “Outstanding contributions made by Maj. Gen. R.K. Malhotra in the field of National Security & defence Studies.”
Lt. Gen. KJ Singh, Former GOC-in-C, Western Command, cautioned by saying “India needs to take care of its peripheral states or it might lose them. He added by saying that the Glorification of terrorism will not be acceptable.
Brig. Satish Kumar, Former Deputy Director General (JAT Regiment), also said about the outstanding contributions made by Maj. Gen. Raj Krishen Malhotra in the field of Defence & national Security.
Kanwal Sibal, Former Foreign Secretary, Government of India said:” Indian diplomacy, army and the country’s current leadership had a very clear success in doklam crises with China, India’s position stands vindicated.”
Lt. Gen. Philip Campose, Former Vice Chief of Army Staff, said about the sino-pak military cooperation and its impact on India’s National Security.
Rear Admiral (Dr.) Sanatan Kulshreshtha, Former DG (NAI), said about the Global Terrorism and Cyber Threats and its impact on India’s National Security”.
Cmdr. Abhijit Singh, Head-Maritime Security-ORF, said about the INDIA, US, Japan and Australia Joint Exercises in Indian Ocean Region and its impact on India’s National Security.
Asoke Mukherjee, Former India’s Permanent Representative to UN, discussed and said about the Past, present and future US-Russia relationship and its impact on India’s National Security.
Prof. Chintamani Mahapatra, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University & International Security Expert said about the Thorny US-EU relationship and its impact on India’s National Security.
Sanjeev Tripathi, Former R&AW Chief, said about the Rise of ISIS & Alqaeda and its impact on India’s National Security.
