First day of April is observed as the World Day of Fools for reasons unknown. April Fools‘ Day (sometimes called All Fools’ Day) is an annual celebration in some European and Western countries commemorated on April 1 by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes.
However keeping in mind the climatic changes of the planet and also clubbing it with the day’s significance to create awareness, a group of social activists from Greater Noida observed April Cool Day today. The group of socially aware common people named as Active Citizen Team organized a tree plantation drive at Japanese Park of Beta-1 sector, Greater Noida to mark the occasion.
Team members also invited all citizens to re-brand this day as April Cools Day in order to plant more trees that may help in beating the heat waves of ongoing season.
A small team of active volunteers including kids indulged in plantation drive and also vowed to take care of these plants by regularly watering them till they grow to a self sustainable point.
Talking of this campaign, Harinder Bhati of Active Citizen team said, “We have a ritual of undertaking plantation drive on many occasions and we have already planted innumerable trees in different parks of the city. Our members also make it a point to observe this ritual on their birthday’s etc. Today’s campaign was an attempt to make more people socially aware about the significance of planting trees. We want people to shift from pranks to plants to make this day more socially relevant for planet earth, especially in context of Global warming”.

Also present during today’s drive were Manjeet Singh, Manoj Garg, Om Raijada, Ashish Sharma, Vinod Solanki, VK Goyal, Rahul Numberdar, Narendra Singh, Yogendra Panwar, Harsh Bhati, Manish Bhati, Tanisha Bhati among others.
