Massive protests demanding creation of Gorkhaland rocks Jantar Mantar street

NEW DELHI : People from North-eastern states of India, today held a huge procesion at Jantar mantar demanding creation of a new state, Gorkhaland.

“We have been demanding our own state for last hundred and ten years and thousands of people have laid their lives for the cause so far,” said a protestor.

It is unfortunate to see, said another protestor, that the central government is silent on the issue.

“We anticipate opposition from West-Bengal state government, but we demand that central government should take a stand on the issue.”
