Meira Kumar is Opposition’s candidate for Presidential election

The Opposition parties on Thursday to decide on a candidate for Presidential elections. At a joint press conference after the meeting, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Meira Kumar was unanimously chosen by the all the parties as the Opposition’s candidate.

Sonia Gandhi said she is not upset with any party for extending support to Ram Nath Kovind and RJD chief Lalu Prasad said, he will appeal to Nitish Kumar, his alliance partner in Bihar, to support Meira Kumar. Remember, Meira Kumar hails from Bihar.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad further said that Meira Kumar is the daughter of freedom fighter of Babu Jagjivan Ram, who was a former deputy prime minister under Morarji Desai.
