The high level panel formed by three ministers committee to study and submit report regarding structure of Municipal body in Noida met with different stakeholders on Saturday at Noida Authority.

The panel headed by Meerut Commissioner Dr. Prabhat Kumar has DM GB Nagar BN Singh, Municipal Commissioner Ghaziabad CP Singh, ACEO Greater Noida Authority BK Tripathi, ACEO Noida Authority RK Mishra and CLA VP Pathak as its members.

The panel has previously invited suggestions and views regarding establishing Municipal Corporation in Noida through mail and letters and has received over 270 responses for the same. After more than a month of seeking written suggestions, Panel today called different stakeholders in person and sought their views in this regard.

Among those invited for today’s discussions were Industrial body representatives, RWA federation representatives, slum representatives, women organization, NGO’s, social workers and media person.

Speaking to the press after meeting all the concerned individuals, Dr. Prabhat Kumar said, “We listened to different stakeholders and noted down their suggestions, concerns and ideas regarding the Municipal function unit in Gautam Buddha Nagar. It must be noted that majority of people that we met are against formation of a separate municipal corporation and different alternative suggestions have been offered”.

However the majority of suggestions that have been presented to the panel have very confusing narratives. As per officials who attended the meeting majority of groups have spoken against having any elected body however all of them have advocated for having public representations in the board.

The other major suggestion has been about creating a separate municipal division in the Noida Authority itself. The suggested structure demands separate budget, Noida to be divided in different Zone and appointing a dedicated CEO for overlooking its function. Nevertheless feasibility of such measure under bylaws of industrial Authority remains doubtful.

Panel to Research and Brainstorm over suggestions now

The bureaucratic panel will now be examining all different suggestions and would brainstorm over the feasibility of different suggested structures. Panel Chairman and Meerut Commissioner Dr. Prabhat Kumar said that now that all stakeholders have contributed with their inputs on the matter, theoretical research will be undertaken as per need. Brainstorming is also required over financial sustainability of any suggested model. A detailed report will be submitted to government after completion of these processes.
