Noida Police All Set to add Garuda Squad and Shakti Squad for enhanced policing in district!

NOIDA: Few days back India got its first fulltime women defence minister in form of Nirmala Sitharaman and in same spirit of Women empowerment, Noida is also going to boost of having a first-of-its kind two-wheeler borne women police squad.
Soon Noida roads will see woman cops patrolling its streets on modernized scooters promoting sense of safety in its residents. Named as “Garuda Squad” this will be the first women bike patrolling squad of Uttar Pradesh Police.

As of now 40 female police personnel have been identified and trained for this purpose. Each patrolling unit will have a team of two thus taking total number of women patrolling units in Noida as 20.

In addition to this, Noida traffic police will also form a Garuda Squad to deal with the menace of traffic congestion, traffic violations and encroachment of roads. This squad will initially have 30 patrolling bikes and would be allotted with different high-traffic density area of Noida-Greater Noida for management.

GB Nagar’s top cop SSP Love Kumar said, “This woman patrolling initiative is aimed at further improving the law and order situation of city. These women cop will be provided with special safety gears and would be trained for friendly policing. The cause will contribute to both women safety and empowerment at the same time”.

Director General of Police Sulkhan Singh will launch the initiative on 9th September.

As of now women bike squads are functional in Jaipur Police, Mumbai police, Delhi police units among others.
