New Delhi :– Members of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), gathered in large number at Art Faculty, North Campus, University of Delhi to protest against the ‘unconscionable’ metro fare hikes in Delhi.

NSUI has been consistent incampaigning against the fare hike over the last year. NSUI has also been running an awareness campaign on the Issue In DU for the last one week.

NSUI members on Wednesday organised a march from Arts Faculty towards Vishwa Vidhyalaya Metro Station to protest against the Metro fare hike. The NSUI demanded a concessional Metro pass for students. “The Metro fare hike is an anti-student move and against public policy”, said spokesperson of the union.

Speaking to Ten News, NSUI Members Collectively said, “We demand that the proposed hike be rolled back and students be provided subsidised passes.

With the widening bifurcation between the poor and their niche, high travelling fares exacerbate the condition, NSUI has been fighting for availing metro passes to students as some relief.”

They further said, “The Metro fare hike is an anti-student move and against the public policy. The Aam Aadmi Government and BJP has failed to work for student welfare.”
