Odissi dance extravaganza by Jyoti Shrivastava, to mark Guru Pranam Utsav mesmerizes Delhites

Odissi is considered as a primeval and breathtakingly form of holy dance, which was formerly developed in the temple of Lord Jagannath in Kalinga (Orissa) to perform worships and mediation.

Concluding the traditional art heritage of Orissa, eminent Odissi dancer, Jyoti Shrivastava presented a mesmerizing dance performance on April 24 at India Habitat Centre including four Ragas Khambati (Shringar Pradhan), Gour (Vir Pradhan) , Saveri, (Karun Pradhan) and Dihashakhya( Shant Pradhan). All these Ragas included a unique rhythm, the bhangis (dance postures) and mudras (hand postures), which were elegantly and perfectly presented by a dancer of international repute, Jyoti Shrivastava.

Guru Gopal Panda Ji, a renowned and acclaimed Odissi dance scholar, researched and developed a twenty two minutes performance of Jyoti Shrivastava along with some amazing artists of Vaishali Kala Kendra to showcase the four Ragas into Odissi dance form.

Talking about Jyoti Shrivastava’s performance to Ten News, Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi Director BIMTECH, said that, her dance moves were perfect and spectators applauded it a lot.

Our group BIMTECH has always backed Odissi dance and other cultural arts. Jyoti Shrivastava is an eminent personality, she has done many performances and her today’s performance was mesmerizing.

Performance received an extraordinary applause from the spectators and several spectators said that, it was a historic performance.
