New Delhi: On Wednesday In New Delhi, Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Vice Chairman of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) and Member of Rajya Sabha briefing the media, about the first of its kind National Seminar on One 3 Nation One Election (ONOE) to be held in Mumbai under the auspices of RMP on January 20-21 said, “Simultaneous Elections is the major democratic reform that the Nation is waiting for decades and hence a nationwide discourse about the same for consensus building is the need of hour” about the first of its kind National Seminar on One 3 Nation One Election (ONOE) to be held in Mumbai under the auspices of RMP on January 20-21.

Dr Sahasrabuddhe emphasised on the need for ONOE and observed that ‘Exploring the possibility of conducting simultaneous elections remains a difficult yet probable solution to all the problematic issues which are the direct outcome of multiplicity of elections. This massive democratic reform would free the Nation from permanent election mode and enhance the pace of good govemance for development’. Prof V.K. Malhotra, Member Secretary, Indian Council of Social Sciences & Research (lCSSR), who are the partners in the conduct of this Seminar, was also present in the PC.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal regarding conducting Simultaneous Elections, Political scientists, Researchers, Politicians, Election administrators as well as people at large have begun discussion on the idea and deliberations on various issues concerning its practicality and implementation mechanism.

This Seminar have Panel Discussions on various issues pertaining to ONOE narnely, Hazards of Multiplicity of Elections , Simultaneous Elections: Concept, advisability and implementation related issues, No-Contidence and Dissolution of Houses related issues and solutions, Idea of aligning local body elections with General Election Advisability and Implementation related issues & Simultaneous Elections Experiences abroad.
