New Delhi: City police refrained Trade, Women and Students’ unions to hold protest at American Centre citing security reasons on Monday.

Jolted with the violation of human rights of US-Moscow border refugees by the United State Government the Delhi State committees of the All India United Trade Union Centre, All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan, All India Democratic Students’ Organisation and All India Democratic Youth Organisation held a Joint demonstration at the Parliament Street and planned to march American Centre to register their disappointment but the city cops stopped them.

The action of the police was vehemently condemned by demonstrators who were addressed by all unions.

AIUTUC President, Harish Tyagi said, “Indian government don’t want to disappoint US government that is why they are refraining us to protest at American Centre despite having permission.”

He further said, “Instead of building pressures on US government to stop their inhuman behaviour with US-Moscow refugees, Indian goverment refraining us. By doing so, India is supporting US’s act on the border.”

Secretary, AlMSS Ritu Kaushik said, the inhuman treatment meted out by the Trump administration to the desperate refugee families crossing the Mexico-US border and seeking asylum in the US. The forcible and inhuman separation of migrant children from parents in such cases was the main issue of the public outcry against President Trump.

“The stiff resistance offered by the American public to this policy of President Trump and also the criticism from the UNCHR- the UN Refugee organisationand the Amnesty international which ultimately forced him to withdraw his orders. However, even yesterday the American President redoubled his criticism of US immigration laws and threatened sending the intruders back to places where from they came, without any legal process.”

When contacted a senior police officer (asking not to name) who was standing at the protest site said “I don’t know much that why they have been refrained for protesting at American Centre. But we have orders not to allow them to protest at that site.”
