New Delhi: Congress MP and party spokesperson Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Friday attacked BJP for allegedly hackling judiciary. He said Union government is directly assaulting the Independence of judiciary.

“What government is doing with Justice Joseph despite having adequate qualification for becoming the Apex Court judge and recommendation of collegium is shameful. It is a clear cut matter of content based assault. Justice Joseph is being targeted because of his some historic verdicts.”

He further said, “Letter of clarification by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in this matter is trash. Collegium should ask why government took four months to reject the recommendation. Government has no right to reject the recommendations made by the collegium.”

He later asserted, “Collegium should resend the recommendation of justice Joseph to the government and should give strong message to the government that until Justice Joseph appointment have been made, no, new recruitment will be take place in any court of the country.

Taking jibe on the BJP’s claim to judiciary, Abhishek Singhvi said, “Now, judiciary has become a fashionable word which is being used during seminars and events but in reality the government has hacked the judiciary.”
