Union Minister JP Nadda, Priyanka Chopra announce the Partners’ Forum 2018 to work for women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health

New Delhi: Every girl or women needs to be financially independent if they want to stand behind the men and they should understand it,’ advised internationally acclaimed actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra while speaking in a programme organised by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Delhi today.

She was speaking in an event organised by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health in Delhi.

She further said, “The value of a girl child is never at par with the boys. The society always undermined girl’s talent and their potential. We need to change mindset of the society by creteing awareness that spreading the success stories of women and girls.”

In a bid to provide better healthcare to women, children and adolescents Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health jointly creating a Partners’ Forum which will be held in December 12-13, 2018 in Delhi.

Later, a high-level panel discussion has been organised, where Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, JP Nadda, Former President of Chile and incoming Board Chair of The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) Dr. Michelle Bachelet, Actress and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra, and National Coordinator, White Ribbon Alliance India Dr. Aparajita Gogoi came together to formally announce that the Partners’ Forum 2018 will be held in New Delhi on 12-13 December this year.

The Partners’ Forum, held every 3-4 years, aims to drum up momentum and provide a unique platform for learning and exchange between countries. The 2018 Partners’ Forum comes at a pivotal moment: three years have passed since the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals and countries are looking for greater collaboration to accelerate progress toward the ambitious objectives and targets of the Every Woman Every Child (EWEC) Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016-2030).

The main purpose of today’s panel discussion was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by women, children and adolescents in realizing their right to health, and about the most promising and proven solutions to ensure that they can survive, thrive and transform their communities.

While speaking in the event, Union Health Minister JP Nadda said, “The ministry is leaving no stone unturned to provide better health facilities and we have initiated several policies to achieve health targets.”
