Uttar Pradesh Diabetes Association to Mark World Diabetes Day with Awareness & Training Campaigns in GB Nagar

Uttar Pradesh Diabetes Association today conducted a press meet and announced several events that will be observed across Gautam Buddha Nagar district to mark World Diabetes Day on November 14th.
As part of its awareness campaign a Diabetes check-up camp was held today at ITS dental college where over 100 citizens got themselves checked for the disease. Simultaneously a poster making competition was also organized for the students in which students put their creativity to best use by designing posters for awareness on the issue.
UPDA will also be organizing a diabetes walk on September 19 in which participants from all over the city would take part and pledge to adopt a healthy lifestyle to curb this disease.
Training camps for paramedic staff as well as CME will be organized on 14th November, World Diabetes Day to discuss the latest innovations in the field. An open seminar will also be organized to answer different queries of citizens pertaining to this disease.
Speaking about the same Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Chairman, UPDA said, “The theme of this year is Women and Diabetes as they are rapidly becoming major patients of this disease. Many a times lack of awareness and non-timely check-up’s results in many difficulties for the ladies affected by diabetes. It is our efforts to make more and more people aware about its preventive measures, treatment and checkup techniques”.
Dr. Amit Gupta further added, “In Uttar Pradesh about 14% of urban and 10% of rural population is affected by Diabetes. There is much prevalent confusion regarding this condition. The most common diabetes is Type-II diabetes which is mainly a result of lifestyle issues. We want more and more people to adopt healthy lifestyle. Even those suffering from Diabetes should also be made aware about the latest innovations in the field so that they can make most use of it”.
