VIDM, Institute of Design & Management had participated the India Fashioniesta Competition 2015 and won the first prize in the competition. The competition was a part of the Global Education Interact, sponsored by The Chopras. There was an international jury judging the show. The event saw VIDM students use the colour “White” silhouetted with different detailing in terms of texture, form, structure and design. The collection was a part of the “White Project” that the students had done at the Institute.

“The White Project” – clothes without prejudices

Devoid of colours, there is no attraction in the sartorial world. Colours are the most significant part of any fashion trent. Some colours express human emotions and habits, while others are used as a style statement. The “White Project” is the first design project of the course. It focuses on challenging boundaries of an artist’s vision of design…’without colour’ since most students now a days are pretty fashion-savvy, they probably know that the colour white has replaced black (last fall and winter’s hot hue), to become the “in” colour this spring and summer.

At the start of the project, students met with their design tutor to discuss individual ideas on the concept of “White” and what ideas they had come up with. The next 2 weeks was spent researching, developing research books. Students spent time conceptualizing ideas and their interpretation of white.
