XLRI Holds 16th Graduation Ceremony of Executive Diploma Programmes

11th April, 2018: XLRI- Xavier School of Management, one of India’s premier B-School, recently organized 16th Graduation Ceremony for students of its Executive Diploma Programmes.  

On this significant day, 649 students of XLRI’s various Executive Diploma Programmes including 526 students graduated of Virtual Interactive Learning (VIL) Programmes (265 students of Postgraduate Certificate in Business Management; 261 students of Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resource Management), 40 students of Executive Diploma in Human Resource Management Programme (EDHRM)32 students of Postgraduate Certificate in HRM- Accenture (PGCHRM)11 students of Agribusiness Management Programme (PGP-ABM) and 40 students of the 8th batch of the Post Graduate Programme for certificate in Entrepreneurship Management (PGP-CEM) received their graduating certificates and medals.

The event was graced by Dr. Ashok Agarwal (Founder and Non-Executive Director of Transcorp International Limited) as the Chief Guest, Fr. E Abraham S.J. (Director, XLRI), Dr. Ashis K. Pani (Dean – Academics, XLRI)Dr. Ram Kumar Kakani (Associate Dean, VIL Programmes, XLRI), Prof. Vishwa Ballabh (Chairperson, Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) – XLRI),  Prof. M. G. Jomon (Chairperson, In-Company Programmes (ICP) – XLRI), Prof. P. Venugopal (Chairperson, Agribusiness Programme – XLRI) and other dignitaries.

Dr. Ashok Agarwal also delivered the Graduation Address at the event.

The top ranking students of the VIL Programme were awarded XLRI Medals for Academic Excellence sponsored by Unified Collaboration Services (UCS) on the occasion. The students securing the highest CQPI in the programmes like EDHRM, PGP-ABM and PGP-CEM received also Gold Medals.

Fr. E Abraham S.J., Director of XLRI congratulated the graduating students and wished them success in their endeavours. He specially mentioned theachievements of the students of the different Executive Diploma Programmes.

Giving details of the accomplishments by the different Executive Programmes of XLRI, Fr. Abraham said, “Since its inception, over 6,500 students have graduated from the various post-graduate certificate courses conducted under the aegis of VIL. We offered 17 eMDPs with over 2,700 participants including some from far away regions such as the USA and the Middle East. Web portal ‘Virtual Placement Notice Board’ (VPNB) was further enhanced. It facilitated discussion between corporates and students. About 60 companies are registered & over 120 job postings have been floated via this portal.”

He also congratulated the faculty for their contribution in research and scholarly activities. He commented, I am very happy that our research and publications continue to be acknowledged worldwide. I thank Dr. Pitabas Mohanty, Associate Dean, Research and publications for taking us to greater heights in research.”

Congratulating the outgoing students, Dr. Ram Kumar Kakani, Associate Dean, VIL Programs, XLRI encouraged them to keep learning throughout their careers while following the Jesuit spirit of ‘Magis’ – for the greater good. 

He also shared updates on new developments in the VIL department of XLRI like introduction of several new short and long duration VIL management programs and opening of new virtual lecture studios on campus. 

He further added, “XLRI VIL Programs was launched in 2002 with the primary objective of offering management education to working executives without disrupting their job schedule. Since then more than 6,700 students have graduated from various VIL PGC programs and become XLRI-VIL alumni. Presently, there are 170 study centers across the country and 542 students are pursuing Postgraduate Certificate courses in the following areas: Business Management, Human Resource Management, Business Analytics for Management Decisions, and Senior Leadership. Students from each of the four graduating batches have between 9 to 10 years of work experience on average. Among the students graduating from VIL PGC programs this year, women comprised of 20% of the PGCBM batch strength and 50% of the PGCHRM batch strength. More than half of the students attended classes from study centers in Bangalore, Mumbai or National Capital Region (NCR). However, in recent years the participation from non-metro cities such as Ahmedabad, Jamshedpur and Visakhapatnam has increased significantly.”

Addressing the graduating students, Dr. Vishwa Ballabh, Chairperson, Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) – XLRI advised them to maintain discipline and integrity in their personal, professional and social life to achieve success in the life.
