In order to upgrade the skills sets of its technicians, India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM) organized the 8th edition of the National Technician Grand Prix (NTGP) 2017. Taking along another step forward to ensure development of thorughly skilled technical manpower, the Surajpur Plant of Yamaha is also hosting the first edition of National Parts Manager Grand Prix.
The contest is scheduled to last for three days in which 60 participants hailing from different zones will take part and compete for the top most position. The three categories namely Service Technician, Service Advisor and Parts Manager all have 20 participants each.
The introduction of the new categories has been done to integrate all segments of vehicle service and ensure that a consumer gets a flawless experience at Yamaha service centers through expert, experienced professionals.
The NTGP contest is designed to judge the contestants skill sets in the areas of “Quality Repair”, “Quick Repair” and “Economical Repair”.
Speaking about the same Ravinder Singh, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Planning, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. The WTGP is organized as a global level by Yamaha and takes place very alternate year. In last two edition Indian participants have won the coveted title in Technician category.
Mr. Singh also shared details of Yamaha Training School which are operational in different rural areas of India to train the interested individuals in to Bike-service category and make them employable. These centers are being operated in synchronization with some government facility and a batch of 30 participants are enrolled every year for training. Till date 842 individuals including many women have been trained at these centers.
