All About Periods – Navratan Foundations hosted a session on menstrual hygiene
Noida : Noida based NGO, Navratan along with Ms. Swarnima Bhattacharya, Founder, TheaCare educated young girls about periods and menstrual hygiene.
27th May 2019: Ahead of World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2019, Noida-based Navratan Foundations hosted a small but crucial session on menstrual hygiene practices at its education centre Gyanpeeth. The engaging session was delivered by Ms. Swarnima Bhattacharya Founder, TheaCare.
“The lack of menstrual hygiene and understanding of the monthly period cycle can pose health risks. We don’t want that to hold our girls back. This session is a humble beginning, we are in the midst of installing sanitary napkin vending machines at our centres as well” , said Ashok Srivastava, Founder, Navratan Foundations.
Young girls from Noida’s sector 8 and 17 slums keenly participated in the session with a zeal to learn and educate themselves. My uterus is “shaktishali” (strong) and “samajdar” (smart) the girls collectively agreed as Ms. Swarnima concluded the session on the promise that each participant will share everything they learned with a friend.
From understanding the anatomy of an uterus to dismantling the shame often associated with it – each girl left the session enlightened and empowered.
