Amity Noida VC Dr. Shukla Calls AIU’s 99th AGM a Historic Leap for Higher Education Reform

Noida (23 June 2025): Amity University hosted the 99th Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), alongside the National Vice Chancellors’ Forum, on the 23rd and 24th of June 2025. This major academic event witnessed participation from Vice Chancellors across the country, senior Government officials, the Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar, and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh AnandiBen Patel.

During an Exclusive interaction with Ten News Network, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Amity University, expressed deep gratitude and excitement about Amity being chosen as the host institution. She said, This has been a great opportunity for Amity University that the Association of Indian Universities has given us.

She further stated, when the final event came on 23rd and 24th of June, I think all the Vice Chancellors, the government officials, the Vice President of India, and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh — all came together. Amity was truly fortunate to host them. It has been a great learning experience and an inspiration from the learned people who participated. This is a huge step towards taking higher education to a greater level, in line with our Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Referring to Amity’s founder, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, she added, From way back in 1995, Dr. Chauhan believed that India would be a superpower by 2030. He has now extended that vision to align with the mission of Viksit Bharat 2047. Dr. Chauhan and his entire team, along with all Vice Chancellors and AIU, are working under the leadership of AIU to realise this vision. India will be the “Vishwa Guru” – no one can stop it. India already rocks everywhere, and rather than being sought out for something, a large number of Indians are today CEOs of major multinational companies. The time will come when it will be only Indians at the top and no other.

Speaking about the addresses by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Shukla said, The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, has set the tone for the National Conference of Vice Chancellors. The points he shared were so important that I think every Vice Chancellor will implement them. You know, you have to give education and not just the degree, and that is very important.

She continued, The Governor of Uttar Pradesh told us how we need to focus on every aspect of society and all genders. You have to look into every aspect, rather than just thinking about giving degrees. I am sure this is now a goal for every Vice Chancellor.

Dr. Shukla also highlighted that Amity University has already taken multiple initiatives in line with the suggestions made by the Governor. Many of the measures mentioned by the Governor have already been implemented at Amity. We will surely strengthen all the remaining points suggested. We are committed to transforming the education system as per the national goals, she concluded.

The 99th AIU Annual General Body Meeting marks a significant milestone in India’s academic and national growth, as universities across the country unite in shared vision and action for Viksit Bharat 2047.
