New Delhi, 31 October 2022: Union Minister, Anurag Thakur attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday and accused him of being the “kingpin in liquor fraud” in Delhi which led to the CBI’s raid and interrogation of deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia earlier this month.
Thakur further criticised AAP, which is now in power in Delhi and Punjab and is hoping for a strong showing in the elections for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh next month, by calling it the most corrupt party.
To further emphasise his argument, he also mentioned Satyendar Jain, a former Delhi minister who is currently serving time in prison after being charged with money laundering.
We will repeat our governance in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, just like we did in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Goa. AAP ought to consider Punjab… The level of corruption is highest… The scandal landed Delhi’s health minister in jail. Arvind Kejriwal is the scheme’s mastermind, Thakur added.
Prior to a municipal election, the purported Delhi liquor scandal has escalated into a significant AAP vs. BJP flashpoint and is currently the subject of a judicial battle. Sisodia, who oversees the city’s excise department, is also being investigated for allegedly giving undue advantages to the bidding process for liquor licenses for the years 2021–2022.
